Who am I & how did I get here? Everything you wanted to know & more is right below...
THE LONG STORY
I guess you could say I've been on a wellness journey for the last decade, but it was only recently that I realized this is what was happening, slow & steady, beneath the surface, & at a deeper level than I knew.
It all started after college when I stumbled upon yoga. Honestly, it was part of my gym membership, so I tried a class out of curiosity. It was then that doors & windows to an ever-evolving lifestyle of wellness blew open. From there it migrated to food. In Charleston, SC where I was living, local food & farming was a big part of the culture. I participated in CSAs (community supported agriculture), volunteered on a farm, read every Michael Pollan book I could get my hands on, & really started to fall in love with cooking real, whole foods.
In January 2014 this this blog was born. I had the urge to share my love of yoga & healthy eating. I also had a lot of friends & family wanting recipes & yoga tips, so it felt natural to share on this platform & things just naturally grew from there.
Fast forward another couple of years (& a move to New England) when I enrolled in an incredible 200 hour yoga teacher program with Kathryn Budig & Gina Caputo. A month in Calistoga, CA learning from two of the most brilliant, yet distinctively different yoga teachers I've ever practiced with was the best possible training experience I could imagine. It was around this time I began to became very curious about Essential Oils, & this is where I started to creep open door number three.
It was a year & 7 months from the time I started looking into purchasing doTERRA Essential Oils until the day I pulled the trigger.
Why? Because I wanted to be SURE that whatever I was going buy needed to be the most pure, high quality, high integrity Essential Oils on the market.
I've grown up with eczema my whole life & having super sensitive skin has made it really obvious to me over the years that chemicals, synthetics, & fragrance can be so harmful to your body. I knew that chemicals were a big factor with my skin issues (I had already tried elimination diets, allergy tests, etc), so I decided to rid myself of all the toxic beauty & home products I had & replace with DIY'd or very minimal ingredient, truly clean products.
It was when I read about doTERRA's Co-Impact Sourcing model that I decided to click the purchase button & haven't looked back. In that year & 7 months I researched, tried to poke holes, & was as discerning as one could be. When I was convinced that both the product was the best AND the integrity of the company was through the roof, it was an easy decision.
Having accumulated a background in health & wellness (& a "real life" background in Marketing), it was no surprise to me that the business of doTERRA became appealing. When my first friend who wanted to purchase oils after having experienced mine asked me "How do I buy these?" I made the choice to pursue this business & it's been one of the best decisions I've ever made.
And while this blog has shape shifted slightly over the years, the mission remains the same: for this content to be helpful, inspiring, educational, fun, & most importantly, accessible.
